‘You’d sell your mother for a nickel!‘ It’s an adage that I am sure you have heard at least paraphrased once or twice in your life, but hopefully you truly don’t know someone who would stoop that far. But that’s not what the friends of the man pictured above can say. Mr. Randal Rosenthal was found guilty of shooting his mother in the back of her head and leaving her body in a nearby river. He shot his mother, Kathleen Remter, so that he could possibly use the insurance money of $586,000 to help offset the arrival of his second child. (Woe to you who does not see the irony in that…)
Parenting has become more and more dangerous as of late and video games have become more and more intrinsic in the daily lives of our children. How do the two go hand in hand? Well let me tell you…
Evidential y, a mother in Santa Fe, New Mexico told her 14 year old son that it was time to stop playing video games and his response you ask? It was to stab her in the leg with a kitchen knife. He then began screaming that he would kill her other children. The mother fled to her Dodge Durango where she called the police, but that did not stop the child from breaking out all the windows of her vehicle with a rock.
The mother told the police that her boy was bipolar, but he is still being charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, criminal damage to property of a household member and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
It’s sad but again all too common. This is not the first time a teenager has snapped violently at his parents because of video game time. (ie boy kills mom with a claw hammer) or (boy murders mom for not being allowed to play Halo 3)
In my house, my son is 10 years old, we let him play video games as a matter of reward for job well done each day for 45 minutes, no more. This is in part, to try and avoid any type of conflict regarding video game time later on.
Parents be vigilant and don’t just hand your kid a video game to shut him/her up for hours on end. That lack of parenting may burn you in the end.
Elzbieta Plackowska allegedly told her seven year old son, Justin, and a five year old girl that she was baby sitting to get on their knees and pray. While the children were praying, she slit their throats an proceeded to stab them both, a cumulative, 150 times.
Originally she accused a perpetrator of murdering the children. Then later she said she had killed them because there were “devils” inside of the children. And a third time she said she killed the children to seek revenge on her husband who “didn’t appreciate her“.
Didin’t appreciate you? So you murder two small children, one of which wasn’t even yours? It baffles my mind. I would rather her be mentally unstable and declare there were devils than for her to say there was some revenge factor.
Regardless, of the reason, this was a brutal crime that snuffed out young and innocent lives. I can’t even comprehend their last moments. I can’t fathom the trust that those children placed in that woman, only to be betrayed under the pretext of prayer. For me, that makes the crime all the more heinous. Those children trusted her…
Drugs? Hallucinogens? Pure disdain for a wife and an unborn child? Who knows why he did it, but he did. Jeffrey Reynolds attempted to kill his wife, Paula. He the proceeded to open her stomach and womb, remove their child who was in the third trimester, and killed their unborn baby by using a sharp object against it’s head.
There are not many more stories that you will find more ghastly then this one. But sadly enough this is not an isolated incident. There have been several stories of persons killing mothers-to-be and stealing their fetus. Albeit this is the first one I have heard for the sole purpose of murdering the child.
The last I heard, Paula Reynolds was remarkably still alive but in critical condition. Mr. Reynolds is being held in jail with a $500,000 bond. I hope justice is swift and God is forgiving.
