Perpetrator: Dareka Brooks
This story is a bit older but it can not go without mentioning because it involves so many unfathomable things. The first thing: A 14 year old boy uses his iPad to hire Dareka Brooks (22), a prostitute, for sexual favors. The second thing: The prostitute upon arrival recognizes that this is just a child. Instead of walking out the door and waiting for the next ‘client’, she does what any sensible prostitute would do: She pepper sprays the boy, steals his iPad, a Piggy Bank, and a jar full of money.
So where to begin? Where did the boy learn how to hire a woman of ill repute via an iPad? The parents need to get a refund for any computer classes they paid for. Speaking of the parents, I can’t imagine how the police narrated this story to them. “Ma’am your kid hired and was robbed by a prostitute.” Grounded for eternity. But what do we say about a prostitute who robs a fourteen year old boy of his Piggy Bank? It’s probably not best to discuss ethics when regarding a prostitute. It would be like complaining about the hygiene of the homeless.
Ms. Brooks is currently being held under a charge of armed robbery.
Deborah Tagle: Mother Who Refers To WebMD For Gunshots
Perpetrator: Pete Jesse Rodriguez
This story offers ‘stupid’ on a variety of levels. First off we have Pete Jesse Rodriguez, a 24 year old, was tracking a 14 year old with the sites of his handgun. This resulted in him shooting the boy in the thigh. Ummm, why? They don’t have regular family friendly activities in Santa Fe, Texas? Rodriguez is identified as a ‘family friend’ who lives at the residence. (Note to self: Famiy friends with handguns not welcome in my house)
Secondly, after the boy is shot, his mother (Deborah Tagle) decides that a gunshot wound does not really qualify as an emergency and consults the ever popular WebMD website. Not only that, but her son peels himself off the floor and helps his mom perform the search! Now I am far from the perfect parent, but this is one of the most absurd things I have ever heard. The only excuse for this is just a total disregard for your child’s well-being. I can’t even comprehend. But to her credit, she did eventually drive her son to the hospital…after seven hours had transpired.
And how did the police know what had transpired inside of the home? Did someone come clean with the story? Of course not. But just like yours and my house, theirs was wired with security cameras which picked up the detail of events. Wait a minute? What? Why would someone wire the inside of their house with security cameras? Unless…<you fill in the blank here>
Last I heard both parent and shooter are in jail…
Perpetrator: Cedric Swinson
What does it take to be a dedicated family man? To what lengths would you go to have the perfect family vacation? Well, if you answered “rob a bank” you are in the good company of one, Cedric Swinson.
Swinson drove from Charlotte, North Carolina to Satellite Beach, Florida on a suspended driver’s license to take his girlfriend and her kids on a Disney Cruise. When he arrived, he was short on cash. In a heated panic he did what any good family man would do: He robbed the local Navy Federal Credit Union. He did so without a weapon (though he indicated he had one) and by passing the teller a note to fork over some cash. No one was hurt. Once he robbed the bank, he hopped in the family truckster that waited outside where his girl and her kids waited. The family had no idea what had transpired and he was apprehended within a matter of minutes. He took an undisclosed amount of money.
So before you drive down all that way (on your suspended driver’s license), with your loved ones, wouldn’t you make sure that you could cover the final balance of your trip? I think that would have been a better plan. Instead of getting a Disney Cruise, the family got to witness a bank robbery and the embarrassment that comes with…
Perpetrator: Lawrence Capener
Someone has been reading too many Dan Brown books as of late. Lawrence Capener attacked, choir leader, Adam Alvarez with a knife because of his alleged “Masonic Connections”. I am no expert in the Masons but at least centuries ago the Masons and the Catholic Church were on opposing sides. He told authorities that: The Masons were involved “in a conspiracy that is far more reaching than I could or would believe.” I wonder how stabbing the choir members was supposed to shed light on the conspiracy? Four people were wounded including Mr. Alvarez. He was charged late Sunday on three counts with aggravated battery and ordered held on $75,000 bail.
Obviously, Mr. Capener is losing his grip on reality and possibly will require some psychological help, and perhaps a little in the way of prayer from his victims.
