Perpetrator: Kenneth Alan Amyx
This is a developing story of a Plano man, Kenneth Alan Amyx, who is accused of stabbing to death his live-in girfriend, Jennifer Streit-Spears. He then proceeded to take pictures of Ms. Spears’ bloodied body and a picture of his own self covered in blood, with the caption: ‘Please Pray For Us’. Presumably this was his way to get the word out that he had done something horrific. Police came at the request of Spears’ sister who saw the images. They found the victim deceased and the assailant with several self-inflicted stab wounds.
Victim: Jennifer Streit-Spears,
Amyx is currently being held on $600,000 bond for the murder of Ms. Speirs. And to go along with that charge, it seems as though he was also wanted for the charges of continued sexual abuse of a child and indecent exposure to a child.
Clearly, Mr. Amyx is a very disturbed individual, and my heart goes out to the family of Ms. Speirs.
Perpetrators: Nikey Dashone Walker and Shadeed Dontae Bey
Nikey Dashone Walker and Shadeed Dontae Bey are setting new lows in terms of behavior. What you see in the below video is Mr. Walker and Mr. Bey assaulting a man, after stealing his cell phone, and then continuing to assault him. What you don’t necessarily see is that the victim suffers from cerebal paulsy. He is beaten until he is unconscious, and then beaten some more. All the while, Mr. Bey and Mr. Walker take great pleasure in videotaping their beatdown. So much so, they decided to immortalize their ‘victory’ by posting the video to not only the victim’s Facebook page but also their own, making it that much easier for them to be brought to justice.
These guys not only are a fine example of the phrase’depraved indifference’ but they also nuance that with an all new level of stupidity. Audacity and stupidity are never a good combination.
Walker and Bey are charged with Unarmed Robbery and Intent To Bodily Harm Less Than Murder. They face 10 Years in prison (which seems a little light to me).
Thankfully Facebook will let each perpetrator remember this fine moment in their lives with “One Year Ago Today…”
I wonder how the conversation ensued. I wonder what brought these six young ladies to the point where they thought it would be fun to beat a mentally handicapped woman who was sitting on her stoop in Chester, PA? Apparently boredom had set in, and to amuse themselves they kicked the crap out of a 48 year old woman for over a minute. The first girl just walked up and punched her and then the mob mentality set in as all the young ladies (term used loosely) punched and kicked her. The beating went from the stoop into the woman’s home where they then hit the victim with a steel chair. And because they were so proud of themselves, they opted to post the video of their beat down to Facebook.
This story really epitomizes what The Depraved Indifference is all about. We (society) have devalued human life so much where stories like this aren’t that shocking any more. They are common place. We are living in a society where instead of condemning these acts as strongly and vigorously as we should, we dismiss them.
